- Fluoresceinamine isomer II

Fluorescent Labelling Reagent
6-Aminofluorescein is employed as a fluorescent labelling reagent for the characterisation of fullerene-based liposome nanostructures, known as 'buckysomes'. It facilitates the visualisation and quantification of these complex structures.
Detection of Oxidative Damage
This compound, particularly in its decarboxylated form, can be used to detect aldehyde groups that result from oxidative damage to proteins. This application is valuable in biochemical studies investigating cellular stress and damage.
Chromatography Derivatization
As a derivatization agent, 6-Aminofluorescein can be used in conjunction with chromatography techniques. It aids in the detection and analysis of specific analytes by introducing a fluorescent tag.

| Application | 6-Aminofluorescein has been demonstrated to be useful fluorescent labeling reagent for fullerene-based liposome nanostructures termed ‘buckysomes’1. 6-aminofluorescein dissolved in 0.1 N NaOH can be quantified from a maximum absorbance at 490 nm. Decarboxylated 6-aminofluorescein dissolved 6 N HCl (prepare by constant boiling at 110° C for 24 h) can be quantified from a maximum absorbance at 454 nm. Aldehyde groups are formed by oxidateive damage to proteins, which can be detected by conjugation to decarboxylated 6-aminofluorescein2. |
