Fluorescent Red Mega 520
Fluorescent Red Mega 520 (CAS: 540528-09-4, C26H30N2O7S) is a high-purity fluorescent dye supplied by Tech Serve Solutions. Its large Stokes shift makes it suitable for multicolor techniques, particularly when excited by argon lasers or similar short-wavelength light sources. This dye is designed for direct conversion of excitation light into emission without FRET, enabling applications such as DNA sequencing and FISH microscopy. It is available with an assay of ≥97.0% (HPLC).

Multicolor Fluorescence Techniques
Fluorescent Red Mega 520 is designed for multicolor applications, allowing independent detection of multiple labels in the same experiment due to its distinct emission wavelength. It can be excited using the same light sources or filter arrangements as other common fluorescent dyes.
DNA Sequencing
The dye's direct conversion of excitation light to emission and its suitability for short-wavelength excitation make it valuable for applications in DNA sequencing. Its minimal use of FRET mechanisms is advantageous in such precise analytical methods.
FISH Microscopy
Fluorescent Red Mega 520 is well-suited for FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) microscopy. Its fluorescent properties and compatibility with standard excitation sources aid in cellular and genetic analysis.
Biochemical Assays
As a fluorescent label and probe, Fluorescent Red Mega 520 can be employed in various biochemical assays where fluorescence detection is required. Its defined excitation and emission spectra are beneficial for quantitative measurements.

| Application | Fluorescent red Mega 520 and other Mega dyes are specifically designed for multicolor techniques. It is characterized by an extremely large stokes shift between excitation and emission maxima. This dye is especially well suited for excitation by argon lasers or other short wavelength excitation light. This also means that it can be excited with the same light source or filter arrangement as fluorescein and other widely used dyes, as well as other Mega dyes. Due to the different emission wavelengths several different labels can be detected independently in the same experiment. Due to the small size of the Mega labels and the direct conversion of excitation light into emission without using a FRET mechanism, there is a variety of possible applications including DNA sequencing and FISH microscopy. |
